We protect your home in Marbella even when you're away

If you own a property in Marbella, the odds are it stands empty for a good part of the year. Perhaps it's the villa in Nueva Andalucía you fly out to every few weeks, the apartment in Elviria the family takes over in August, or the townhouse in San Pedro you'll move into properly one day. Whatever the arrangement, the question is the same: who is actually keeping an eye on it while you're back in Surrey, Dublin, Stockholm or simply up the coast in Málaga?

Segurma was built for exactly that. We've spent more than 40 years in Spanish home security, we run our own Alarm Receiving Centre staffed around the clock, and we're a licensed security company (DGP 3082) with a direct line to the police. When a sensor trips in your empty villa at three in the morning, a trained operator looks at the live images, confirms what is going on and sends the police as a verified alarm — all while you're asleep in a different time zone. You get the notification on your phone once it's dealt with, and a person who speaks English on the other end of the line if you want to talk it through.

Why Marbella owners choose Segurma

  • Our own 24/7 monitoring centre — no outsourced call centre. The operators who verify your alarm work for Segurma and handle Costa del Sol properties every night of the year.
  • Police-connected verified response — a confirmed intrusion is passed straight to the police as a verified alarm, which is treated very differently from an anonymous call about a noise.
  • Free installation by our own engineers — a Segurma technician surveys the property, fits the system and walks you through the app before leaving. No third-party installers.
  • Support in English — from the first phone call to the day-to-day questions, you'll never have to translate a security conversation or lean on a neighbour to make sense of an alert.
  • Seven days a week across Málaga province — Marbella, San Pedro, Estepona, Benahavís, Ojén, Mijas and the rest of the coast: weekends included.

Systems for every kind of Marbella property

No two homes on this stretch of coast are alike, so we don't fit the same kit everywhere. These are the installations we do most often in Marbella:

Call 911 877 095, drop us a message on WhatsApp or fill in the form above and we'll book a free security survey of your property. If you're not in Spain at the moment, a key-holder, property manager or trusted neighbour can let our technician in, and we'll go through the recommendations with you by phone before anything is fitted.

For rural plots and the hills

Alarm with external back-up battery

Some of the loveliest homes around Marbella — up in the hills behind Benahavís, on a finca outside Ojén, at the quiet end of Las Chapas — are also the ones where the power drops out in a storm. This system keeps guarding your home for hours after the mains goes down, so a power cut is never a way in.

Security in Marbella

Why Marbella needs a different kind of alarm

Marbella isn't a typical Spanish town. High-value villas hidden behind hedges, gated urbanisations with a single guard at the barrier, and thousands of homes that stand empty from October to Easter. Burglars know that calendar as well as the owners do. This is how we design a system around that reality, area by area.

The Golden Mile and Sierra Blanca

Between the Marbella Club and Puente Romano, and up the hill into Sierra Blanca and Cascada de Camoján, sit some of the most valuable private homes in Spain — and almost all of them are tucked behind mature gardens and high walls. Wonderful for privacy, ideal for an intruder. Here we start at the boundary: perimeter detection across the plot, outdoor cameras and sensors that raise the alarm long before anyone reaches the terrace doors.

Nueva Andalucía and the golf valley

Aloha, Las Brisas, Los Naranjos: villas backing onto fairways, quiet cul-de-sacs and a community gate that only controls the road in. Golf-course boundaries are open by design, so we cover the side of your plot the gatehouse can't see and make sure the pool terrace — the way most intruders actually come in — is monitored, not just the front door.

Puerto Banús: apartments, penthouses and businesses

Around the port the risk is different again: apartments in blocks with shared access, penthouses reached from communal terraces, and boutiques, restaurants and yacht-service offices that handle serious stock and takings. We fit discreet systems for flats, and for businesses we add panic buttons, cameras with audio and after-hours monitoring linked directly to our centre.

Elviria, Las Chapas and the east side

East of the centre the pattern changes: beachside urbanisations such as Elviria, Las Chapas and Artola, low-rise complexes with communal pools, and second homes that are full in August and empty by mid-September. This is prime territory for out-of-season break-ins. A monitored alarm with cameras means the house is never really empty — someone is always watching it.

San Pedro de Alcántara and Guadalmina

San Pedro is where a great many expats actually live year-round, in townhouses and family villas close to the boulevard and the beach, with the larger plots of Guadalmina Baja next door. The priorities here are practical: an alarm the whole household can use without fuss, tags for the cleaner and the gardener, and a notification that tells you the children are home from school.

A home that's empty for months at a time

Many of our Marbella clients spend more months away than here. That's why we put the app at the heart of the system: arm and disarm from London or Geneva, let the pool man in for an hour and lock up again, glance at the cameras when a storm blows through, and know that if anything is triggered our operators will verify it and call the police while you're still reading the alert.

We had the alarm installed at my parents' home because of the break-ins nearby, and they're delighted and much more relaxed.

Jorge R.Madrid Verified

Quick, tidy installation. The technician explained everything to us. Now we go away on holiday without worrying about the house.

One night the alarm went off in my shop. In under a minute they called me and alerted the Police. Worth every euro.

Questions expats ask us

Everything you need to know before you sign

Does Segurma cover Marbella and the surrounding area?

Yes. Segurma protects homes and businesses across the whole municipality of Marbella — the Golden Mile, Sierra Blanca, Nueva Andalucía, Puerto Banús, San Pedro de Alcántara, Elviria and Las Chapas — as well as Estepona, Benahavís, Ojén, Mijas and the rest of Málaga province. Our engineers are local, so a survey or a call-out doesn't involve someone driving down from Madrid.

I live abroad for most of the year. How does the alarm work when I'm not in Spain?

Exactly as it does when you're here, except that you're not the first line of response — we are. Every alert goes to our own 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre, where an operator checks the images from the camera detectors, verifies whether it's a real intrusion and, if it is, calls the police as a verified alarm. You receive a notification on your phone and can see what triggered it. Nothing depends on you picking up at 4 a.m. in a different time zone.

What does "police-connected verified response" actually mean?

It means we don't simply pass on a beeping sensor. Our operators look at the live images, confirm there is genuinely someone inside or on the plot, and only then contact the police as a verified alarm. Verified alarms are prioritised over unverified ones, which is what makes the difference between a patrol arriving in minutes and a phone call that goes nowhere. Segurma is a licensed security company, registration DGP 3082, which is what allows us to do this.

Do your advisers, operators and engineers speak English?

Yes. You can request your quote, arrange the survey and talk to us afterwards in English. The engineer who installs your system will explain the app and the tags in English, and if you ever need to discuss an alert or a change to your set-up, you won't be left translating security jargon over the phone.

Can you protect a villa with a large garden and a pool on the Golden Mile or in Sierra Blanca?

This is precisely the kind of home we protect most in Marbella. For a villa with grounds, the sensible place to detect an intruder is at the boundary, not at the bedroom door, so we combine perimeter detection across the plot with outdoor cameras, camera detectors inside and a system that covers terrace doors and pool-side access. The layout is decided at the free survey, in person, walking the plot with you or your property manager.

I'm in a gated urbanisation with 24-hour security. Do I still need my own alarm?

A guard at the barrier controls the main road in — and that's about all. He can't see the golf-course side of your plot, the gap in the hedge, or the balcony reached from the communal garden, and he certainly can't check every villa every night. Your own monitored alarm covers the house itself, gives you a verified response the community security can't provide, and lets you check on things from wherever you happen to be.

Can I let cleaners, gardeners or guests in without giving them my code?

Yes. The Peace of Mind pack includes identification tags, so your cleaner or gardener can disarm the system with a tag rather than a code, and you can see in the app exactly who came and went and when. For a one-off visit — a plumber, a delivery, a friend collecting something — you can disarm and re-arm remotely from your phone, from anywhere in the world.

What happens if the power or the internet goes down while I'm away?

The alarm panel has its own back-up battery and its own communication channel, so a brief cut doesn't leave the house unprotected, and our monitoring centre is notified if the system loses contact. For rural plots and hillside homes where power cuts last longer, we offer a version with a high-capacity external battery that keeps the whole system running for hours without mains electricity.

How much does a Segurma alarm cost in Marbella?

The current offer is €24.90 per month for the first 12 months for the Peace of Mind pack, with free installation. The price is the same for a villa in Nueva Andalucía as for an apartment in Elviria; what changes is the number of devices, which we confirm at the free survey. Business pricing excludes VAT.

How quickly can you install an alarm in Marbella?

Installation is usually completed within 24 to 48 hours of signing up, subject to availability in the Marbella area. If you're flying in for a short stay, tell us your dates and we'll do our best to fit the survey and the installation while you're here; otherwise a key-holder or property manager can give the engineer access.

Do you protect businesses in Puerto Banús and the town centre?

Yes. We work with boutiques, restaurants, offices, yacht-service companies and other businesses in Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía and central Marbella. Business systems include panic buttons, cameras with audio and after-hours monitoring, and are quoted excluding VAT.

Can you help with a property in Estepona, Benahavís, Ojén or Mijas?

Yes. Our engineers cover the whole western Costa del Sol from the same base, including Estepona, Benahavís, Ojén, San Pedro de Alcántara, Mijas and Fuengirola. Many of our clients have a home in Marbella and another somewhere along the coast; both can be monitored and managed from the same app.

Is Segurma a licensed security company in Spain?

It is. Segurma is registered with the Dirección General de la Policía under number DGP 3082, has more than 40 years' experience in home security and protects over 55,000 homes and businesses, with a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from more than 3,000 verified reviews. That registration is what allows our monitoring centre to pass verified alarms to the police.
