We had the home alarm fitted for my parents because of the break-ins nearby, and they’re delighted and feel much safer.

An alarm in Málaga for a home you’re not always in
Málaga is a city people leave and come back to. It is the gateway to the Costa del Sol, the airport is twenty minutes from the centre, and a growing share of the flats in the Centro Histórico, El Palo and La Malagueta belong to people who split their year between here and somewhere else — a second home, a base for the winter, a place the whole family descends on in August. That rhythm is a wonderful way to live. It is also exactly what an opportunist looks for: shutters that stay down for weeks, a letterbox that fills up, a terrace nobody is watering. Segurma has been protecting homes in Spain for more than 40 years, and we have built our service in Málaga around the question international residents actually ask us: what happens if something goes wrong while I’m not there?
Why international residents in Málaga choose Segurma
- Our own Alarm Receiving Centre, 24/7: every signal is handled by Segurma staff, not a subcontractor. They verify the alert with audio and images from your detectors and pass it to the police in Málaga within seconds.
- Police-connected verified response: Segurma is a licensed security company (DGP no. 3082). A verified alarm reaches the police as a confirmed incident, which is treated very differently from an anonymous call about a noise.
- English-speaking service from start to finish: the first phone call, the survey, the engineer’s visit and the app on your phone — you will be dealt with in English throughout.
- Installation included, from €24.90/month: a certified engineer fits the system on a date that suits your travel plans, and we will happily work with a key-holder or property manager if you cannot be here yourself.

Six things we’ve learnt protecting homes in Málaga
Málaga is not one place. A flat above a bar in Soho, a townhouse in Pedregalejo and a villa in Cerrado de Calderón each need a different approach — and so does a home that is lived in all year versus one that is used for six weeks. This is how we handle it.
Centro Histórico and Soho: flats above the bustle
Old buildings, shared entrances, rear patios on the ground floor and neighbours who change every weekend. In the centre we concentrate on the front door and any window reachable from a courtyard or roof terrace, and we fit detectors with built-in cameras so our operators can see what set the alarm off rather than guess. If you let the flat between your own visits, we will set up separate codes for guests and cleaners so you always know who came and went.
El Palo, Pedregalejo and La Malagueta: homes by the sea
The eastern seafront is where a great many international residents settle — and where properties sit empty between visits. Terraces, side gates and beach-level windows are the usual weak points, so we cover them with contacts and detectors positioned with the salt air in mind. When you are away, the app tells you the moment anything moves, and our monitoring centre is already looking at the images before you have finished reading the notification.
Cerrado de Calderón and El Limonar: villas with gardens
A detached villa with a pool and a driveway offers far more ways in than a flat, so we design from the outside inwards: perimeter detection for the garden, cameras on the approaches, contacts on every accessible door and window. Many of these homes are second residences whose owners fly in from the UK, Ireland, Germany or Scandinavia a handful of times a year. Our monitoring centre keeps watch for the rest of it.
Teatinos and Huelin: the everyday city
Not every expat in Málaga owns a holiday home. Teatinos is full of families and university staff; Huelin is a working neighbourhood where new-builds and older blocks sit side by side. Here the alarm does a simpler job: it protects the people and belongings inside while you are at work, on the school run or away for a long weekend. Panic buttons, night-time partial arming and a keypad the children can manage are the requests we hear most.
Full in August, empty until Easter
The pattern is familiar: a houseful in summer, quiet from September, a week at Christmas, nothing until spring. A dark, shuttered flat is easy to spot. With Segurma you can see on the app that the system is armed and live, you are notified the instant a sensor trips, and you can check the cameras from your sofa in Surrey or Stockholm. If something is genuinely wrong we do not simply ring you and wait: we verify, we alert the police, and then we ring you.
Twenty minutes from the airport
Málaga airport is the front door to the whole Costa del Sol, which is why so many people keep a home here. It also means your routine is visible: a taxi at five in the morning, suitcases, shutters down. We recommend arming the system from the car on the way to the terminal, and we will show you how to give a neighbour or key-holder their own code so they can water the plants without setting anything off — or, if you prefer, we will coordinate with your local property manager.

Quick, tidy installation. The engineer explained everything. Now we go on holiday without worrying about the house.
The alarm went off in my shop one night. Within a minute they had called me and alerted the police. Worth every euro.
Questions we’re asked by owners in Málaga
Yes on both counts. Segurma Alarmas installs and monitors alarm systems across the city of Málaga and the whole province, and we have English-speaking advisers for the first call, the survey and ongoing support. Call 911 877 095 or use the form and we will ring you back in English.
Those are precisely the homes that need one. An unoccupied flat or villa is a soft target, and without a monitored alarm nobody would know about a break-in until you next walked through the door. With Segurma, our own Alarm Receiving Centre watches the property 24/7, verifies any alert and involves the police while you are still abroad — and the app tells you what is happening the moment it happens.
Our monitoring centre receives the signal instantly and checks the audio and images from the detectors. If the intrusion is confirmed it is passed to the police in Málaga as a verified incident. At the same time you receive a notification on your phone and an operator calls you to explain what is going on. You can also give us a second contact in Málaga — a neighbour, key-holder or property manager — and we will try them as well.
Yes. The Segurma app works anywhere with an internet connection. You can arm or disarm the system, see the state of every sensor, look through the cameras with two-way audio and hand out codes or tags to a cleaner, a guest or the person who waters your plants. It works exactly the same from Manchester or Munich as it does from Málaga.
The current offer is €24.90/month for the first 12 months, with installation included. Prices are indicative and confirmed after a free technical survey, so the figure we quote is the figure you pay.
Installation is usually completed within 24 to 48 hours of signing up, subject to availability in Málaga. Most owners book it during a visit. If that is not practical, we can arrange access through a trusted key-holder, property manager or family member, and walk you through the app over the phone once the system is live.
Yes. As well as flats in the centre, we protect detached and semi-detached homes across east Málaga — Cerrado de Calderón, El Limonar, Pedregalejo, El Palo — and the residential areas to the west such as Teatinos and Churriana. Villas get perimeter protection for the garden and cameras on the approaches, not just sensors on the doors.
We protect businesses in the Centro Histórico, Soho, around Calle Larios and along the seafront at El Palo and Pedregalejo — shops, restaurants, chiringuitos and offices. Business packs include a panic button for staff and can be combined with cameras and cloud recording.
The city of Málaga and its entire province, including the metropolitan area (Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Rincón de la Victoria, Alhaurín de la Torre, Cártama) and the rest of the Costa del Sol from Nerja to Estepona, plus inland towns such as Ronda and Antequera.
Yes. Segurma is registered with the Spanish Directorate-General of Police as security company no. 3082 (DGP 3082). It has more than 40 years’ experience, protects over 55,000 homes and businesses across Spain and is rated 4.6 out of 5 by more than 3,000 verified customers.
